Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a modality that works through acoustic or sound energy. Inside the ultrasound head lies a tiny crystal which vibrates when hit with electricity. These vibrations cause high frequency sound waves to be emitted. The sound waves are produced at a higher frequency than the human ear can hear, and when combined with water-based ultrasonic gel or lotion, can penetrate the skin and musculature of our body. Once inside the body, these acoustic vibrations create a deep heating effect that can penetrate up to 2 inches beneath the skin. The thermal effects of this treatment promote circulation, relax tightened muscles, reduce muscle spasms, decrease inflammation, and reduce tissue formation.
